Today (7 April 2025), Mr. Wutthikrai Leewiraphan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Chairman of the Working Group on US Trade Policy, revealed the steps for the US to collect import taxes from trading partners and Thailand. In the beginning, the US will start collecting additional taxes from 00:01 on 5 April 2025 (US time) at a rate of 10% on all imported goods from all countries. As for goods that have been loaded on ships or vehicles and are in the process of traveling to the US before that time, they will not be subject to such taxes until 00:01 on 27 May 2025.
